Let’s Create; A Watercolour Ice Cream

Hi Everyone
Today I’m sharing with you a card I made using watercolour pencils with the Ice Cream Treats Stamp. Although I normally colour with alcohol markers & pencils, I do like to try different techniques when stamping images. In this step by step tutorial I’ll will talking you through how I stamped the Ice Cream using two different coloured ink pads.

Below we will list just what materials you’ll need.

What You Need

8×8 Card Blank
TLD – Ice Cream Treats Clear Stamp Set
TLD – 4mm & 6mm Mixed Coloured Pearls
TLD – Sweet Treats Paper Pack
Gold Mirror Card
Watercolour Card
White 210gsm Card
Hexagon Nesting Dies
Square Nesting Dies
Memento Ink Pads – Desert Sand, Rose Bud, Dandelion, Bahama Blue
Watercolour Pencils
Embossing Folder

Step By Step

Step 1: With your square nesting dies – cut the largest to fit the 8×8 card blank in the gold mirror card. Then take the next die size down & cut a square in the white card.

Step 2: Take your momento ink pads and on a glass matt – press a little ink down of each colour separately & add a touch of water to each inked dab. Now with the small ice cream clear stamp press the stamp into the first colour of watery ink & start stamping to create a backing paper on the white card. Don’t worry if the ink runs you want the mini ice creams to look like they have a watercolour/sketchy feel.

Step 3: Once background is finished & dry matt & layer the stamped background onto the gold mirror card & stick them both onto the card blank.

Step 4: Take a large hexagon nesting die which will fit the 8×8 card – cut the first hexagon in gold mirror card & with an embossing folder run it through your die cutting machine. With the next hexagon size die down cut a hexagon in the waffle paper from the Sweet Treats paper pack. With another hexagon die down cut a piece of watercolour card.

Step 5: Now with the watercolour card – your ready to start stamping the large Ice Creams (you will also need to create a mask on a scrap piece of paper)
Start with the center cone – inking up just the cone of the ice cream with Desert Sand ink pad first – careful not to go over the top line of the cone. Now ink up the Ice Cream part of the stamp in your chosen colour – I’ve stamped blue for my first cone.

Step 6: Now repeat the stamping using different colour for the ice creams – masking off the center ice cream

Step 7: Using the watercolour pencils start painting the ice creams. Once you’ve finished ink around the edge of the hexagon.

Step 8: Finish off by matt and layering all the hexagons – I’ve put foam tape on the back of the watercolour card. Die cut small hexagons for the sentiment. Pearls have been glued into each corner

New Release; Beautiful Chrysanthemum’s

Hi Everyone
We are back with a Brand New Release! You know we love our floral’s & we have a few lovely release to come very soon – but today’s is the wonderful Chrysanthemum’s, which look so beautiful shaded in. With Mother’s Day (UK) coming up soon this digi stamp would be perfect for a special card.

Card sample One

For the first sample I’ve gone bold and bright with oranges and yellows. Keeping it fairly simple with matt and layering & die cutting. To start I’ve stamped around the edge of of the card base with small flower from our Chrysanthemum Flower Head Polymer Stamps. Die cutting a piece of burnt orange mirror card & embossed it with a dotty check embossing flower (which I think is from Tattered Lace). To stay with the checked theme I’ve selected a paper from our ‘Sunny Sunflowers‘ Paper Pack.
After shaded the Chrysanthemum Digi Stamp – I’ve die cut – glittered the edge & pop foam pads on the back – & made the sentiment into a flag. Finishing off with some of our coloured mixed Pearls.

Sample Card Two

For the second sample we’ve created this gorgeous, eye catching purple Chrysanthemum card. I’ve folded a piece of A4 card in half to create an A5 card & then cut the front in half. Die cutting squares & turning them round to make a diamond shape – to place in the center. Using one of the ‘Elegant Florals‘ papers on the back part of the part matted onto purple card. For the left hand side of the card I’be used the remaining part of the purple card & used a strip embossed folder to add a little pattern and texture. Adding a little of our ‘Lilac Twinkle‘ Glitter & white pearls in the corners

How To; Shade Autumn Girls Coat

Hello Everyone
We are back today welcoming Autumn in by giving you a step by step tutorial on how to shade the coat on our Autumn Girl Digi Stamp. We first released this digi in 2016 – the thing I love about her is the movement I’ve tried to capture – with the wind blowing her coat and hair. The leaves also swirling in the background.

You could cut around autumn girl or die cut her – this way you get her with or without the leafy background.

What you’ll need:

* TWINKLE LANE DESIGNS – AUTUMN GIRL DIGI STAMP
(AVAILABLE TO DOWNLOAD FROM ETSY) ^
* PROMARKERS
COAT; HONEYCOMB / GINGER / BURNT ORANGE
HAIR; CARAMEL / BURNT SIENNA / CINNAMON
SCALF & BOOTS; CARDINAL RED / RUBY / BURGUNDY
UMBRELLA; COOL GREY 4 & 5
SKIN; ALMOND / PUTTY / DUSTY PINK
*COLOURED PENCILS FOR BLENDING & SHADING

Choosing a colour palette;

Since we are colouring ‘Autumn Girl’ Digi I thought I’d go for an autumn colour palette. To choose my colours I often hop on over to pinterest & find a nice colour palette on there. Just like this one which inspired the colours I have used;

How To Tutorial; Let’s start shading

Step 1: to start lay a flat colour of the lighter shade to the coat. If using promarkers this will be Honeycomb
Step 2: decide which side the light is coming from so you can create shading – mine is from the right side, so shading will be on the left. I’ve gone around the coat putting in darker area where I think direct light will not hit – with promarker Ginger.
Step 3: with Burnt Orange I then go in with darker shading to add more depth. This is will be in similar places as the Ginger. Once I’m happy with that I’ll go back in with Ginger I pop more some shading in.
Step 4: to blend all the colours in – go back over the whole coat with your first colour (Honeycomb). You can now see there are you darker shading with some really light patches where the light will hit the fabric directly.
Step 5: to finish off the image I then use coloured pencils to add more shading & to make the colour pop a little more. Try & use similar shades of pencils to the alcohol markers as you can.
