Christmas In July: Shading the Snowglobe Digi

What you need to create this card;
7×7 pre-folder card / Silver Mirror Card / Square Nesting Shaped Dies / Background Paper (we’ve used one from ‘Christmas Penguins‘) / Sue Wilson Snowflake Die / Foam Pads / Glue / Adhesive Gems / Glitter / Double Sided Tape.

To start we’ve die cut silver mirror card & layered the dotty paper from the Christmas Penguins Paper Pack – putting some purple glitter around the edge. Using the square nesting dies we’ve then die cut two frames – both the same size but one with silver cardstock and the other in pearlescent lilac cardstock & then interlinked them together & placed foam pads on the reverse. We’ve then shaded the snowglobe digi stamp which we’ll show you how to do in the video below. Finishing off a Sue Wilson snowflake corner die & lots of adhesive gems and pearls. Modern colour pallet for the Christmas Card – great for ladies and young girls.

Using a square card Helen has matted and layered a mix of grey and white card topped off with the blue snowflake paper from the ‘Christmas Penguins’ Paper Pack – she’s then inked around the edge with a dark blue ink pad. Shading the digi in with a mix of blue and grey tones & then adding a layer of glitter over the top of the globe part of the digi. Finished off with gems in the corners.

Julianne has created two wonderful samples. Shading in the digi stamps with copic markers and then for the background she stamped snowflakes and used a clear heat embossing powder over the top. Christmas In July; Making A Penguin ‘Flip it’ Card

Happy Monday! It’s another Christmas In July release.
Who is loving our Penguin Digi Stamps so far?
This weeks release is ‘Snow Penguin’ a cute little penguin dashing through the snow in her scarf and bow. We created a ‘flip it’ card for our make this week and below shows you some simple steps on how to fold and die cut your card so you can make one too.
Let get started…

What you need to create this card;
A4 White Card Stock / Silver Mirror Card / Shaped Die / Background Paper (we’ve used one from ‘Christmas Penguins‘) / Snowflake Dies / Foam Pads / Glue / Adhesive Gems / Glitter / Double Sided Tape.

Step By Step Creating The ‘Flip It’; Folding & Die Cutting

Step 1: Take your A4 piece of card & mark the center fold line. Score the center with a bone folder or you could also use a scoring board (I have used The Big Score). Once score line has been made, fold the card stock in half to create an A5 cardr
Step 2: You will again need to find the center point this time on the right hand side of the previous fold. Score this line & fold the card back on itself – creating a backwards Z when stood up as you can see in the picture above.
Step 3: On the fold line you’ve just made, grab your chosen die (I’ve chosen an Xcut die) & make sure you have equal spacing top & bottom of the die. You will only be cutting the die up to the fold line so you will need to find the center of the die too, before using some low tack tape to stick it the piece of card. Once you have done this place the card with die on the edge of the die cutting plates, this will only cut the die up to the center fold line. Remove the die & your card should look like the above picture
Step 4: Fold the card back on it self down the score line and the die cut part the the other side – you should now have the base to start creating your flip it card.
ps. you can use an shaped die to create a flip it – you could even create multiple flip it’s on one card – using smaller dies

Design Team; Christmas In July Cardmaking Inspiration

Today I have two cards to share with you. Our Design Team Members have been creating some festive cards – using the new ‘Playful Penguins’ Digi Stamp and ‘Christmas Trees’ Digital Papers now available in Twinkle Lane Design Etsy Shop. Giving you a little inspiration when you create your own cardmaking projects.

The first card we are sharing is from Helen – who has chosen a white & red colour palette for her creation. Matting ‘Christmas Trees’ Digital Paper on-to a square card & wrapping a textured twine around the center. ‘Playful Penguins’ has been die cute using a pierced circle, matted onto red die cut circle & both have been layered onto white scalloped die cut card stock. Finished off with card candi & a sentiment.

Mowbray Designs has chosen a blue and silver colour palette for her Playful Penguins card. Matting one of the new papers and the digi stamp on silver mirror card stock along with one of the sentiments from the digi sheet. She has also included some silver die cute Christmas Trees. Finished off with blue pearl drops.

Our Design Team have been working hard creating some beautiful samples with the new ‘Ice Skating Penguins’ Digi Stamps & Christmas Penguin Digital Papers.

Mowbray Designs has used two of the papers from the ‘Christmas Penguins’ pack. Matt and layered them with sliver mirror card. Using a hexagon die with silver card & white card – which has then been embossed with a Xmas embossing folder & inked over to highlight the pattern. Additional extras include die cut snowflakes and a bow.

 Using washi tape Julianne created a striped background pattern blending in Salty Ocean Distress Oxide Ink adding some snowflakes in light blue glitter cardstock.

Using a snowflake background stamp Julianne stamped in tumbled glass distress oxide inks to create the background adding in some additional holiday cardstock for dimension and adding a sentiment from Honey Bee Jingle all the Way stamp set. Die cute snowflakes to finish.
